About me
Hello! I was born in the Midwest and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame. I received my doctorate (PhD) in clinical psychology from Stony Brook University in New York. I then completed my clinical internship in Los Angeles, and have lived and worked in New Mexico for over twenty years. I've been married for over 30 years and have two grown sons.
I am a licensed psychologist in New Mexico and am also Board-Certified in clinical psychology.
At my graduate program, we were taught to value clinical research and to tailor treatment to the specific needs of the individual in front of us, using research findings as a guide. Since then, I've continued to learn and incorporate new modes of psychotherapy. Although I've published papers and books, and have taught many cohorts of students, I see psychotherapy as the single most interesting and challenging enterprise I engage in. I have great admiration and respect for my clients. They choose, over and over, to take responsibility for themselves and accept the challenges and benefits of self-reflection and growth. I feel privileged to be on that journey with them.
